So, what is the reason I haven't blogged lately? Let's just say that life has gotten in the way. Truly, sleep is so much more appealing than blog traffic! Now, we don't have our new baby in our arms yet, but I do only have one week and five days left until my due date. (April 10th) Priscilla Renee could be here any day now! (Pictured above is her going home dress, slip, blanket socks and shoes.)
Honestly, I'm exhausted. A few days a week I wake up at 4am or 5am and work on Simply Handmade Magazine. Then, I work all day at my "day job". I plan on working right up until she's born, as it's more time I'll have to stay home with her. Needless to say, our dinners have gotten a lot less complex in the recent weeks.
Going back to work after six or eight weeks will absolutely kill me. I'm not sure I could do it at all if Priscilla would have to go to a day care center. (Nothing against those, but all parents know how hard it is to leave their children!) Thankfully, she'll be staying with Jason's mother during the day. What a blessing.
Connor is handling everything really well, for a boy who has been an only child for seven years. At first, he was a little upset that she wasn't a brother, but now he's getting really excited to meet her! We packed a goodie bag for him to take to the hospital that includes some new books, a doodling pad, lots of snacks and some new pajama pants. My mother got him a "Big Brother" shirt to wear, too. I've emphasized a lot to him how God must think he is awfully special to choose him to be a role model to another little person. I think things like that help "baby jealousy"...but we'll see how it goes when she actually arrives!
I'm still craving ice. I stop at Sonic just about every morning before work to get a Route 44 filled with ice to chomp on. A bargain at only fifty five cents.
This past weekend, Jason put together Priscilla's swing and her bouncer seat while I ironed piles of Dreft-washed baby clothes. Did you know that baby girl clothes are infinitely harder to iron than baby boy clothes? Well, they are. Frills, ruffles, pleats and bows galore! I need to invent an iron that's about two inches wide: perfect for ruffle-smoothing.
I'll update again once we bring Priscilla home from the hospital! (Hopefully sooner than later.)
