Don't get me wrong, every mother loves nothing more than to receive an uncooked, yarn-strung, handpainted noodle necklace from her darling child. There is no sweeter sight in the entire world than seeing my little boy's eyes gleaming with proud anticipation as I unwrap my handmade gift. I know this. And I value handmade. And I appreciate the time going into making it. Very much so.
That being said.....
We mothers also like to feel pampered on Mother's Day, right ladies? Here are a few jumping-off points for you that translate into a fabulous way to show your appreciation, regardless of whether you're buying for your own mother, your wife, girlfriend, or whomever... This selection is as timeless as it gets, boys and girls.
Does she love paper goods? Or perhaps all things monogrammed as I do?
Celadon Monogram Notes Ensemble, Crane & Co. $132
You can't go wrong with flowers. Ever. Why not send these from Martha Stewart? Perfect for your mother across the country or your wife across from morning coffee. She'll appreciate the lack of tacky supermarket-esque Baby's Breath.
Martha Stewart Cottage Garden Bouquet, 1800Flowers $69.95
I sadly was not blessed with a green thumb, but would totally be willing to give it a go again if I had these. How fabulous are those monogrammed gardening gloves?
Monogrammed Gardening Gloves, Red Envelope $19.95
How cute would it be to receive this already hand-painted by the kiddos?
Family Growing Kit, Red Envelope $49.95
If she's crafty, she'll love this. What creative girl wouldn't want to play with all of this glittery goodness? 'Nuff said.
Martha Stewart Crafts Glitter Set, $29.99
Ah. Now this stuff I wore for years, and I still go back to it sometimes. The scent is timeless and widely appealing. And really, don't all women prefer that their lotion and perfume 'match'? (Or perhaps that's just me?)
Ralph Lauren Romance Gift Set, Nordstrom $78
Evvvvery mom worth her salt needs to have photos at the ready to show when asked about her kiddos. Bonus points if you pre-fill it with the photos.
Jane Street Elyce Brag Book, Kate Spade $115
How indulgent are these amazing soaps? The container itself had me at hello.
Rose Petal Soaps, Red Envelope $39.95
Ah, the purse pen... This is something she probably wouldn't ever buy for herself, but she'll feel special every time she uses it. I know I do!
Tiffany Blue Purse Pen, Tiffany & Co. $95
Oh, my... This newly-released book is a gots-to-have item. If she's crafty, she already knows about this. ~And she'll love you for knowing about it too.
Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Crafts $29.99
Now, this last item remains up for discussion. Some are totally against giving gift cards for occasions such as this. Some aren't. Personally, I would advise a gift card ONLY be given with something handmade, so it shows that yes, you actually put thought into it.....know what I mean? The Sephora gift card. Ultimate indulgence. She'll have a ball shopping with that thing, not to mention using the goods once she chooses them.
Gift Card, Sephora $25-$250
Most of you know I'm a "Buy Handmade" advocate. There's a Mother's Day Gift Guide: Handmade Edition in the works. Thank you to those of you who have already sent links! They are appreciated more than you know.
Have a wonderful weekend ladies and gentlemen! I'll be studying for much of it...Finals Week! Yessss....
XO,
Delaney
